The development became a subject of public concern when a member representing Oru-east state constituency, Chiagozie Nwaneri moved a motion at the plenary to seek investigation into the matter by the House of Assembly.

Leading debate, the former Majority Leader noted that the said amount was too humongous and may have dealt a devastating blow on the state economy.

The lawmaker during the plenary called on the state government to, as a matter of urgency set up a probe panel to look into the allegation, insisting that whoever is eventually found wanting be handed over to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission for prosecution.
