COVID-19: Medical statistician, Dr Obaromi advocates total national lockdown to fight the virus
A medical statistician and university lecturer, Dr Biodun Obaromi has advocated for total national lockdown as the immediate and most potent solution to the spread of COVID-19. He made the opinion via his WhatsApp number while reacting to the Presidential broadcast suggesting staggered lockdown in the days ahead.
Dr Obaromi who is a medical statistician and experienced biostatistician says when lockdown is relaxed, human movement would inevitably increase and would automatically engender the spread of the virus. He advised federal government to review it’s proposed decision in national interest

When you relax the lock lockdown of all the states, human movements would increase, vulnerable contacts would increase in no time, then an explosion of infections would happen.
As a spatial epidemiologist, I would strongly recommend a national lockdown of all the states in the federation, with an aggressive testing for all, boundary closures and restricted migrations. Almost all the states are infected now.
With excerpts from the President’s speech today, my fears have gone up a bit. This is a viral infection, with a very high motility within any susceptible population.
We are at war with microrganisms that hardly dies!
