Barr. Tanko Begins Peace Parley With Osuku, Onzo Communities To Stem Farmer Clash Over Land Dispute

In his quest to find lasting solution to crisis rocking two sisters communities situated in Koton-Karfe South East electoral ward in Kogi Local Government Area of the State, Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to the Governor of Kogi State on Local and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Chief (Barr.) Muhammed Tanko Musa while speaking to stakeholders from Osuku, Onzo and others representatives from neighboring communities on Thursday, said today expanded critical meeting is mandated to restore law and order for the trouble community inline with directives given to him by His Royal Majestic, Agaba Idu and Ohimegye Igu Koton-Karfe kingdom, Alhaji Abdulrazaq Sani Isah-Koto to finally put to rest the pending farmlands issue that has over a long period of time turn brothers and sisters against each others.
According to the award winning legal luminary cum successful pragmatic and result oriented grassroot political pundit said with the power granted on his person by the paramount ruler, the Agaba Idu and most respected Ohimegye Igu of Koton-Karfe to oversee the land in question in order to work out modality towards achieving peace and also amicable resolution between the two rivalry communities which its residents have been on squabble for some decade now. Hence for an intensive meeting with critical stakeholders to caution farmers from further clashing on the issue that has already been settle by the paramount ruler.
Globaltimesnigeria reports that most clashes between predominantly Osuku/Onzo farmers occur during the farming season when farmers accuse each other of sabotage on the farmlands they both Allegedly claimed ownership to.
Barr. Tanko who is also the immediate past Administrator of Kogi Local Government Area warned during a peace parley with Osuku and Onzo stakeholders at his Koton-Karfe resident in Kogi Local Government Area that no farmer should go against Ohimegye’s wise counseling saying if accepted and respected the matter will be laid to rest without vendetta, adding that the paramount ruler has order that the farmers from both community who farm on the farmlands can go about their normal farming activities and warned that anyone who stands as an obstacle to the Ohimegye’s verdict will be punished. He reminded the gathering that Ohimegye said he will soon visit the land in question before end of the raining season with aims to ascertain what was really going on the said farmlands.
Tanko described as unfortunate that some community leaders have sewed seeds of discords in the minds of the young people to see another person as an enemy which has been the major issue prolonging the matter to this very moment.
Barr. Tanko, however, appealed to affected communities to give peace a chance that no town or community would ever witness development in the face of crisis and urged them to cooperate with him to achieve total peace as mandated by Ohimegye in council.
He thanked the two communities for not only understanding with him but rather honoured his invitation which to him has gladden his heart the more.
“I am going to report back to HRM. Ohimegye Igu kingdom and Agaba Agaba Idu over the latest development and I believed he will so very happy to hear that both community have accepted his verdict”.
“I would like to have a comprehensive lists of those participating farmers farming on the farmlands in order to report back to Ohimegye for next action”.
The Chiefs from various communities in attendance include, Taru of Osuku, HRH. Alhaji Hussaini Salihu, Chief Edee of Onzo, Mall. Yakubu Idris, Chief Uzee of Ukumu, Mall Abdullahi Yahaya, Chief of Usikaku, Mall Zeegu and Chief Gbadaragi of Onumaye and others critical stakeholders were present during the proceeding.
Some Chiefs while contributing during the historic meeting described Barr. Tanko as a very tactical and humane, sincre and generous personality who has his people at heart, according to them for Ohimegye to have entrusted the land into Barr. Tanko care mean Agaba Idu has serious interest towards making sure the matter is brought to rest.
Barr. Tanko was accompanied by well-wishers, friends, supporters and aides and some family members.
