COVID-19: CAN commends Gov. Bello, as Experts wants Precautionary measures sustained.

Experts have advised the Kogi state government against relaxing measures that have helped sustained the zero Corona virus status.

They gave the advice at the government house Lokoja during a stakeholders interaction on the Corona virus pandemic in Nigeria.

The Chief Medical Director, Kogi State University Teaching Hospital, Anyigba, Doctor Akogu Simon reminded the gathering that the Coronavirus disease was real hence every individual and group needed to continue to take precautions to avoid contracting the virus in Kogi.

On his part, Kogi State Chairman, Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, Bishop John Ibenu advised citizens to avoid fear noting that the disease could be preventable.
“Corona virus is a real disease catching real people and real people do die, we should not run away from it. Let us observe what we have been told” Bishop Ibenu said.

Bishop Ibenu who is equally a medical doctor commended the Bello led administration for taking proactive steps at the onset of the disease in Nigeria.

They urged parents to continue to avail their children the opportunity to take vaccine against diseases like measles and poliomyelitis at all times.

Responding, Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello called on citizens to prioritize their health stressing that health facilities as well as welfare of health workers would be improved.
” Do whatever you need to do to improve your health status. Eat healthy, exercise and ensure that you don’t have contact with those who have infectious diseases. It is an eye opener to those of us in authority today to ensure that our medical personnel are well taken care of and our hospitals are revamped” The Governor noted.

Governor Bello explained some measures put in place against the COVID-19 pandemic in the state as he appreciated the efforts of medical practitioners as well as security personnel for remaining vigilant.

The reaction of the experts is coming after some University Dons queried what they called the misinformation surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic as well as the lockdown in some states across the country.
