COVID-19 fear grips Kubwa general hospital Abuja, all staff directed to go for test

Fear has enveloped the general hospital Kubwa, a satellite town in Abuja the FCT.

SGTV gathered that a consultant orthopedics unit in the hospital, whose identity we choose to conceal has tested positive for coronavirus as well as HOD pediatrics.

The CMD, Muideen Lasisi however instead of ordering for their isolation in line with NCDC’s guideline has been managing the patients in the past one week in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

A source who spoke to our correspondent on the condition of anonymity said the infected medical workers are close friends and colleagues of the CMD, saying the decision to keep him in the facility is deliberate.

A patient in the male ward SGTV gathered passed on last week after being infected with the virus.

Other staff of the hospital, including a female nurse attached to the SCBU has also tested positive for COVID-19 and allegedly evacuated to Maitama general hospital.

Two males in Accident and Emergency unit of the hospital are also reportedly infected.

As at the moment of this report, all medical wards have been shutdown and staff directed to go for coronavirus test.

Admission of patients has been put on hold following the development.

Our source also accused the Chief Medical Director, Lasisi of hoarding face masks made available for the patients.

When contacted, the CMD replied, “Is there no COVID-19 in Nigeria”?

Upon further interrogation, he stated that the decision to shut all the medical wards as well as the theatre was an administrative one.

He however denied the treatment of any COVID-19 patient in the hospital, saying he can’t disclose patient’s information to the media.
