Happening Now: North-East governors’ technical committee meets in Maiduguri

A Technical Committee meeting of North East Governors Forum (NEGF) is currently ongoing in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital.

The technical committee of the NEGF is made up of all the Secretaries to the government of the six States in the north east region.

Other members of the committee include Commissioners of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management in the states, permanent secretaries political and the six focal persons of the North East Development Commission from the state.

A source told our correspondent that the SSGs at the meeting are expected to adopt the minutes of the last meeting of the governors which was held in Gombe, Gombe State last month.

The meeting is expected to continue Friday with a singular focus of drawing out an agenda for the next meeting of the governors which is expected to hold on Saturday in Maiduguri.

The Nation recalled that the last meeting of the forum discussed issues concerning the lingering insecurity in the region, rising unemployment and the interventions being carried out by the North East Development Commission in the region.
