Police nab fleeing looters in Abuja

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja Police Command has arrested 12 suspected looters while attempting to escape with looted items.

Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Yusuf Mariam, in a statement in Abuja in Sunday, said they were arrested during a joint patrol at an estate in Gosa.

“In furtherance with its unswerving effort to protect lives and property within the Federal Capital Territory, the FCT Police Command has arrested twelve (12) suspected looters on Thursday 29th October, 2020 along Gosa-Lugbe axis.

“The suspects, who took advantage of the current situation, were arrested during a joint patrol at an estate in Gosa while attempting to escape with looted items.

“The suspects are: Abubakar Hassan 32years, Jibirin Musa 19years, Mohammed Mohammed 19years, Abdul Ibrahim 18years, Shamsudeen Idris 25years, Yusuf Mustapha 28years, Mohammed Yusuf 18years, Shaibu Usman 38years, Abubakar Salisu 19years, Haruna Bello 35years, Sadiq Musa 18years and Abu Lawal 18years all male.

“The suspects will be arraigned in court upon conclusion of investigation. While enjoining residents to remain law-abiding, the Command wishes to reiterate its unwavering commitment to the protection of lives and property within the FCT,” Mariam said.
