family of the abducted Labour Party governorship candidate, Obiora Agbasimalo appeals to the Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, to unravel the mystery behind his disappearance.
The 40-year-old, who contested the governorship election, was kidnapped during a campaign rally of the party in Azia, in the lhiala Local Government Area, on September 18, 2021, prior to the November 6, 2021 governorship election.
It was alleged that after the kidnap, top members of the party advices his relatives not to report the incident to the police or make any press release to provoke his abductors and worsen the situation.
A source says the family was assured that he would be released after the election.
The family waited for two weeks after the November 6, 2021 election waiting for him to be released by the hoodlums without any result.
“ The Obiora had family gathered the courage to go to Abuja and report the matter to the Inspector-General of Police, who directed the IRT to investigate and find Obiora.
“The condemning act is six months now and Obiora has not been found. Also, we don’t know if the kidnap was political or for a ritual purpose,”
On Wednesday, the victim’s mother, Ada Agbasimalo, pleaded with Soludo to intervene in the case and locate her son. As she was sick and needed to see her son before dying.
The victim was a Relationship Manager at Zenith Bank Plc until May 2021, when he decided to build a career in politics.
