Covid-19: Kogi Chief of Staff Affirms Citizen’s Welfare Top Priority As Kogi State Govt. Receives Protective Kits From Mainstream Energy.

The Chief of Staff to the State Government, Pharm. Abdulkareem Mohm’d Jamiu has affirmed that the State Government would make it’s citizens’ welfare top priority in its decisions noting that Kogi State Government resolve not to totally lockdown remained in the good interest of its citizen

Pharm. Abdulkareem made this known when he received medical items from Mainstream Energy Solutions Limited delivered by the leader of the delegation Engineer Amusa Tolupe on behalf of the company.

Pharm. Abdulkareem expressed the Government’s gratitude to the Energy Company for such kind gesture noting that the kits donated would go a long way to assure citizens of the state their safety.

The Chief of Staff noted that the State was the first to launch a web link Application which enabled citizens to engage in self examination and for respective agencies to easily trace suspected Covid-19 occurrence in the State.

He asserted that the State’s resolve against total lockdown of activities was not to discredit states that have taken similar steps, but owing to the painful realities which a total lockdown would cause to the people.

The COS noted that there are people whose livelihood relied on their day to day earnings and such would be subjected to economic hardship if full lockdown was implemented in the state.

He pointed out that the State does not have the capacity to offer a door to door palliative to the people hence the reason why citizens have been allowed to go about their businesses with necessary precautions taken.

He pointed out that the National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) gave a guideline on when to engage in testing and the State Covid-19 committee have followed this protocols religiously without the need to test anyone emerging.

He assured that if anyone in any part of the State manifested what required for testing the committee would be on deck to put such forward promptly and lockdown such community.

Speaking in his opening address, the leader of the delegation, Engineer Amusa Tolupe noted that through its Social Responsibility vehicle run by Mainstream Foundation deemed it necessary to assist the valiant efforts of the State Government in its response to the pandemic.

While he thanked the State Government for such opportunity to play its part in such a time, expressing that it was the organization’s pleasure to offer its support through the donation of the medical equipment and supplies.

Some of the items received by the State government includes 375 pieces of N95 masks, 100 pieces of Resistant suits, gloves, boots, disposable masks, hand sanitizers, Infrared thermometers, steam sterilizers and other items.

The Commisioner for Health Dr. Saka Haruna in his own remarks thanked the organization for the kind gesture

He elaborated that Kogi’s experience and proper handling of the Lassa Fever outbreak in the past three years gave the government an idea of how to effective prevent the current outbreak.

Dr. Saka noted that even before the Federal Government gave its criteria, Kogi had already formulated its own preventive protocols.

He assured that in the State’s normal practice, proper utilisation of donated materials would be ensured.
