Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister of State Dr. Ramatu Aliyu has condoled with flood victims at Koton-Karfe in Kogi State.
She also gave palliatives to people affected by the flood, The Nation reports.
The minister, who visited the monarch of Koton-Karfe, Alhaji Abdulrazaq Gombo, the Ohimegye Igu, said the visit could have come earlier, but for the recent #EndSARS crisis, which affected the country.
She hailed Koton Karfe people for being law-abiding throughout the crisis and assured them that the President Muhammadu Buhari administration would not derail the nation from the path of peace, progress and development.
The minister sympathised with the flood victims of other areas over the damages suffered.
Noting that flood was a natural disaster, she, however, called for caution, warning that there was the need for precautionary measures to be put in place to avoid destruction of property.
Speaking about the medical outreach, Aliyu said the aim was to give back to the community.
She said the outreach involved basic medical free screening, appropriate treatment, counselling and referral to the appropriate health care institutions.
According to a statement by her Special Assistant (Media), Austine Elemue, the minister said the outreach also gave the indigenes the opportunity to assess quality health care by the multi-disciplinary team members at their doorsteps.
Alhaji Gombo hailed the minister for touching lives even before her appointment as a minister.
He said: “You have demonstrated that you are a true daughter of this land. Before your appointment as a minister, you have touched lives in many ways and even as a minister; you did not depart from your good deeds. We are very proud of you.”
