COVID-19: Kogi Speaker charges lawmaker on use of face mask, as Assembly members resume under compliance with social distancing order.
At the resumed sitting of the Kogi State House of Assembly after a long time recess, the lawmakers conducted their sitting in total compliance with social distancing order for fight against the ravaging coronavirus.
Informed by the requirements as spelt out by World Health Organisation and enforced by the Federal Government of Nigeria, Speaker of the House, Prince Mathew Kolawole before the commencement of plenary today re-arranged the sitting position of the lawmakers in compliance with social distancing.
While addressing the House after weeks of recess, he appreciated God for the safe return of members to their legislative duties.
The speaker immediately began with the global topical challenge, the coronavirus, he says the virus is real as it has claimed so many lives and crashed the global economy and social activities.
He urged members to stay safe by observing all directives by the federal government and health institutions in order to prevent and contain the coronavirus.
The speaker maintained that on no account should anyone who was not properly dressed and wearing a nose mask be allowed entry into the assembly complex.
The house observed a one minute silence for lawmakers from Borno and Nasarawa state houses of assmbly who died recently.
The house in plenary received an executive correspondence of forwarding request for the Governor for approval of a draft reverse proposed budget for Kogi State Government for the year 2020.

MOTION PASSIONATELY APPEALING TO THE STATE GOVERNMENT TO RECONSTRUCT EGBE — OGBE ROAD IN YAGBA WEST LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA TO AMELIORATE SUFFERING OF THE PEOPLE AND FORESTALL TOTAL DISCONNECTION BETWEEN THE TWO COMMUNITIES.

Hon. Alfa Momoh Rabiu of Ankpa II Constituency while seconding the motion, emphasized that the road when fixed will ameliorate the sufferings of the people as the two communities will not be cut off from one another and the boosting of socio-economic activities in the area.
Hon. Musa Jimoh of Yagba East Constituency in support of the motion noted that EGBE – OGBE road which is not more than a 30 minute journey of 12 Kilometers now takes longer time due to the bad state of the road.
The Speaker while ruling emphasized the need for good roads across the State.
