Kabba Chief Imam’s family debunks death rumour, appreciates Kogi Gov & Kabba community

Contrary to speculations going on on the social media, the family of the Chief Imam of Kabba, Alh Ejibunu have debunked the news of death of the very respected religious and community leader. As the argument surrounding his COVID-19 status continue to dominate the internet space, a poorly packaged news came from one of the national newspapers of the purported death of the Chief Imam.

In a swift reaction, the family of the Chief Imam have come out in strong terms to condemn such a fallacious news and put the record straight that the venerable elder statesman is alive. In a well worded short release, the family describes such news as propaganda and lies. The family however sends words of appreciation to the Governor of the state, Alh Yahaya Bello, Obaro of Kabba, Oba Solomon Owoniyi, Owe Ololus and indeed the entire community for their prayers, concerns, interventions and solidarity

The statement is quoted below

RE: Kabba Chief Imam is dead

We received with utmost surprise, the insinuation that our beloved Chief Imam of Kabba, Sheikh Ahmad Ejibunu is dead.

This is a blatant lie, falsehood from the pit of hell, orchestrated blackmail to tarnish the family image, the Kabba community and its people, our well wishers as well as the goodwill of the government of Kogi state on this issue. We debunked this in all its entirety. We pray that almighty Allah be with our Imam, brother, community leader. Also we sincerely appreciate His Excellency, the Governor of Kogi State and the government for the concerns and supports, we thank the Obaro of Kabba, and all the other Ololu Obas for their continued prayers, all our leaders in Kabba and in the diaspora, the entire people of Kabba and Okunland. We are indeed grateful to all for this tremendous support for the Ejibunu family at this challenging time for the family. God bless you all🙏🙏🙏
