NYCN President unveils Youth House in Abuja, extends olive branch to aggrieved members

The President National Youth Council of Nigeria, Comrade Solomon Adodo has appealed to members of the Council who are aggrieved following his emergence as the leader of body of all youths in Nigeria to return to what he called Unity Table to move the council forward.

While stating that all issues in the council have been resolved, Adodo emphasized that a lot could be achieved for the benefit of youths in the country if all aggrieved members contribute their quota.

He stated this on Friday during the public presentation of Youth House, an edifice situated at no. 4B Epe Close, Off Sokoto Street, Area 1 Section 1, Garki Abuja.

The structure he said will be a hub for Youth Leadership Development Training Centre, Virtual Library and Research Centre and Directorate for Civil Societies and Strategic Engagement for Nigerian youths.

“These Centres will serve specific knowledge and ideas needs of young people. They are carefully designed to meet the lacking human resource needs among the youths. I wish to seize this opportunity to invite you to make use of The Nigerian Youth House and the available facilities. It is your own. That is why it is called The Nigerian Youth House.

“Let me use this medium to thank all our leaders who were present at the unveiling of the Nigerian Youth House today. You made it so colorful. I can hardly find the appropriate diction to express my gratitude. And due to the ban on interstate movements, a lot of our leaders obviously could not come. But I sincerely appreciate your calls, and that of many State Chairmen, Heads of Voluntary Youth Organisations etal; that called to extend their goodwill and solidarity. I am indeed very grateful” he said.

While acknowledging that his team encountered challenges when he came into office, he stated that some of the hiccups encountered have been surmounted.

Adodo announced that in coming days, the council will tour round the country as part of moves to engage youths at the grass root.

“The colourful flight to the youth glory land, a vision in which I am most humbled to be the lead-bearer and a mission in which I have been entrusted to accomplish, took off a courageous note seven (7) months ago. There was evident scepticism in some quarters, and even outright cynicism in others. My team and I were aware of the turbulence in the air. But we were very sure of our ability to land safely. Yes, there were mountains, but we deliberately refused to see them. And today, I can tell you that there are no mountains anywhere! So, nothing can stop the Nigerian youths from reaching that glory land in record time” he said.

He added, “In few days from now, we shall start a tour across the states, to engage with State and Local Chapters. The tour, apart from engagement with those other tiers of the Council shall provide us the opportunity to begin to discover and harness youth talents in States and our rural communities. When I said we are ready to change the youth story, I was not talking politics. I meant it. There shall be an engagement of rural youths like never before. The ideas and programs are already available. We trust that the visionary guiding light of the Board of Trustees under the adroit Chairmanship of Amb. (Dr.) Dickson Akor will provide the springboard for assured successes on all fronts in the interest of all Nigerian youths.

“All we urge the youths and its different Chapters/Organizations is to countinue to support and engage the government at the Federal, State and Local levels”.

Unveiling of the Nigerian Youth House coincided with the country’s democracy day.

Adodo used the opportunity to congratulate the youths and the country in general for the journey so far in the nation’s democratic rule.
