How Fire Service averted fire carnage from Lagos tanker

The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service on Saturday morning prevented an overnight tanker spillage from causing havoc at Anthony bus Stop area of the State

Disclosing this at the scene of the incident which occurred by TREM HQ, inward Oworonshoki, Gbagada, the Acting Head of the Agency, Mrs Adeseye Margaret, said that the officials of the Agency swiftly responded to the distress call received at about 0455hrs on Saturday.

She explained that the Mack Truck of 45,000 litres fully ladden with Petroleum Motor Spirit, PMS, skidded off the road spilling its content along the Expressway.

“The truck with registration no. APP 50 XF was conveying PMS belonging to Akikavic Nigeria Limited which loaded at a private depot at satellite town and heading to service a filling station at Ibafo, Ogun State,” She added.

Mrs Adeseye reiterated that efforts are ongoing to transload the remaining contents with a view to completely avert a secondary incident that may cause any havoc to residents of the area and the road users.

While informing that two Fire stations, Alausa and Bolade are currently putting the situation under control, the Acting Head of the Fire Service urged motorists to cooperate with the fire fighting officers and other Government officials to ensure the safety of all.

She, however, decried the spate of perennial accidents involving tankers on Lagos roads in recent time especially those carrying petro-chemical contents, advocating proper training for the drivers of these vehicles in order to reduce such unfortuabete incidences in the State.
