KOSIEC fixes date for conduct of local government election in Kogi

Kogi state Independent Electoral commission, KOSIEC, has announced 12 December 2020 for the conduct of local government councils election in the state.

The chairman of the commission, Mr Mamman Eri made this known during a stakeholders meeting held in Lokoja.

He said the meeting was to formally inform the stakeholders of the date and the need for their cooperation towards achieving a peaceful election.

Mr Eri who stated that activities have been spelt out for the election, said KOSIEC will be using the November election voter register for the December 12th election.

He assured kogites that the electoral body will do everything possible to conduct a free, fair and credible election in the twenty one local government areas of the state.

Representative of traditional rulers in the state, His royal highness Olusegun Ayeni commended KOSIEC for their effort to finally conduct the local government council election in the state as that was the only way to reach out to the rural areas.

While promising to take the message of peace to the grassroot, the traditional ruler appealed to all aspirants not to enter the contest with a do or die mindset.
